Understanding Dimensions

How RA-H discovers organization from your content

Dimensions vs Tags

Traditional systems force you to choose tags upfront. In RA-H, dimensions emerge from your content as you write — no rigid categories required.

How Dimensions Emerge

RA-H analyzes your content and discovers patterns (topics, entities, tasks). These are turned into dimensions you can filter and combine.

Dimension Lifecycle

  • Discovery: New concepts appear as you add content
  • Reinforcement: Frequently used dimensions gain prominence
  • Connection: Related dimensions form a navigable network

Viewing Dimensions

In the UI

Use the Nodes panel to filter by one or more dimensions. Combine dimensions to narrow down results.

Smart Filtering

Combine dimensions for powerful queries (e.g., research + rust). Exclude less relevant ones to focus.

Dimension Evolution

Dimensions can merge, split, or fade. The system will suggest cleanups (like merging similar dimensions) as patterns stabilize.

Visualizing Connections

Connections between dimensions and nodes are surfaced contextually in the UI. Graph views will be added later in the beta.

Examples

  • Research: Add papers over time; common themes emerge as dimensions
  • Projects: Capture notes naturally; plan-related dimensions appear and evolve

Best Practices

Let it emerge - Don't pre-create dimensions. Let them appear naturally from your content.

  • Write naturally: Dimensions will emerge from natural language
  • Don't overthink: The system learns your vocabulary
  • Review periodically: Merge similar dimensions when suggested
  • Trust the process: Organization becomes clearer over time
Terminal/CLI usage is out of scope for the closed beta and will be documented later.
